Understanding How Men Think:What To Do When Your Husband Is Upset
Has your husband ever come home from work and you knew just by looking at him- it had been one of those days. He gives you a curt greeting and walks past you into another room.
Maybe he’s upset because he got into an argument with his boss, or perhaps he did not get the raise or the contract he was expecting. What should your response be at this point? You could follow him and keep asking him what’s wrong until he tells you (or leaves the room in exasperation). How about telling him how awful your day was (maybe he’ll think his wasn’t so bad) or maybe being overly cheerful in his presence in hopes that your exuberant mood will rub off on him?
The best thing you can do is to give him space and time to be by himself and let him know you don’t mind. He may want to watch TV, or simply sit quietly by himself or head out to the golf course.
Men and women cope with problems differently. Women generally feel better when they talk about their feelings to someone they trust. Men cope with issues by spending time alone.
When you understand these differences, it will be easier for you to give him space without feeling hurt or resentment.
If your husband is upset and not talking to you, don’t get perturbed. Give him space and do things to make yourself feel better and eventually he’ll be his sweet self again.
