Are You Living a Life of Purpose or Just Passing Time?
Is it right to put more effort into planning a vacation than you spend planning out your own life? Would you ever consider going on a vacation without planning it? You and your family pack a few clothes, and get in your vehicle and start driving with no idea of where you are going or what you will do when you get there?
I wouldn’t. If I am going to invest time and money in a vacation, I want to make sure I get the most out of it by planning it ahead of time. I don’t want to waste any time driving around looking for something to do.
Many people go from one day to the next with no thought about what they want to accomplish in their lifetime. They may be very busy, taking the kids to soccer practice, cooking breakfast, going to church, going to work but never taking the time to sit down and ask God why they are here.
God has a plan for your life other than all the busywork that needs to be done every day. Take time to ask Him what it is and pay attention to the desires in your heart.
You may not be able to totally pursue your calling right now but you can read a few books about the subjects you are interested in and start writing down any ideas and thoughts that come to you.
Don’t get so wrapped up in the details that you never look at the big picture. Set goals for your life so that you have an idea of where you are headed and what you will do when you get there.
