In order to be an effective person
Do not try to be someone else. You can be inspired by others and learn from their successes and failures but trying to be exactly like them will lead to frustration and discontentment with your life.
Be true to your own convictions. When God has put a dream on the inside of you, do not let naysayers steal your vision. Refrain from sharing your dreams with people who will make light of them or try to tell you it can’t be done. You may need to find new friends. Doing the things that please God rather than what your friends think you should do is the only way to live a totally satisfying life.
Question yourself and check your motives constantly. Why am I going to this church-because my parents attended it all their lives or because I believe it is where God would have me to go? Why am I planning on staying at this job I hate until I retire? Why do I go to the family reunion every year-because my mother will get upset if I don’t or because I believe it is good for me to go?
Don’t do things just because everyone else is doing it or because you don’t want to rock the boat. Don’t settle for being average.
Being the person you were meant to be means you first need to discover your calling and become the best you can be at that particular thing-not letting circumstances or pessimistic people stop you.
It takes courage to be yourself. A lot of people cover up their thoughts, ideas and dreams because they are afraid of drawing attention to themselves or they are worried about what others will think. Often times there is a big gap between God’s plan for our lives and the plan we end up following. Determine today to start being yourself and live out the life you were meant to live.
